For our sound in the opening 2 minutes as a group we came to a decision to have a lullaby to help complement the eerie mood and atmosphere. We chose the following the lyrics as they relate to our narrative.
Firstly we arranged to meet a group of keen singers from year 7 at Weald of Kent Grammar to record a lullaby for our horror themed opening. We took the group to the music block, where we found a free recording studio. We informed the group of the lyrics and the way in which we wanted the tune to sound.
We decided to use six different girls who were aged 12. We thought that this was appropriate because of their pitch and tone of voice which created an eerie atmosphere. As well as this, the age group used was appropriate to the narrative of young female victims to show their vulnerability
We chose to do a song to a lullaby tune which often referred to the classic lullaby "Hush little baby". As a group, we decided to do it to this theme as it is a stereotypically horror themed song. To make it less stereotypical and to avoid any copyright laws we ensured to create our own lyrics. Together the tune of this classic song and the voice of young girls, we successfully creating suspense.
We planned to use a microphone recorder, unfortunately this was not available on the day so we improvised and used a high-tech phone. To our surprise it came out clear without background sounds. Therefor we kept this sound footage instead of re-recording with a microphone.
